This annual event takes place in the cathedral each November with a large number of outstanding national and Sicilian artists.
The first edition of the Settimana di Monreale international review of sacred, liturgical and spiritual music dates back to 1939. It is one of the most important artistic and musical events and it has acquired prestige and resonance on an international scale over time. It is no secret that, in addition to being known throughout the world for the splendour of its monuments, Monreale is a town boasting illustrious traditions in the cultural field, so much so that it has previously been nicknamed the Athens of Sicily. It is precisely in the wake of these traditions that the Settimana is organised annually in the splendid setting of the Arab-Norman cathedral, offering concerts with high standard sacred, liturgical and spiritual music to an ever numerous and attentive audience.
